Why I Write

Writing unlcoks the thoughs locked away deep somewhere in my mind. Writing is likethe warm compress that draws out the ideas. By drawing them out I can better analyze who I am as a person. Thoughts are really the makeup of our being. I write because I don't know who I am and I want to find out. I write because reading what I write makes me understand my though process. By reading my writing I know my strengths and weaknesses. By reading what I write I know how other people read my writing and how they judge me on a more personal level.
When other people read what I write  they can get a sense of who I am. I write so people can read me. I write so people can read the way I see the world. I share my opinions and adoration through my writing. I can give a small peice of my mind life; if only for a brief moment. By writing, my loves and hates take shape like delicate paper flowers. Writing makes me grow. Writing makes me shrink. It makes me young. It makes me beautiful. It makes me wise.
Writing shows the world who I really am.

I write because I want you to see me.

Reading Responce #7 (matched)

This last reading was so exciting! The government has already taken everyone artifacts and now Cassia is starting to question her life. Shes asking why Ky would be marked as an abomination and not be allowed to be her match. She wonders why the government controls what she eats, who she is matched to, when she exercises, her job, her words, and her freedom. Cassia feels distress and anger when she realizes that she has no control over her own life. The only other person in the world she can tell her problems to is Ky. Ky understands the control and internal term oil that the government and all the officials have and he shares these thoughts with Cassia. He also gives her a story written in cursive about his life.
On a less dramatic note, Cassia and Xander go on their first official outing. Its like a date but in reality they eat the same type of food she always does. The only difference is the place and the fact there is an official babysitting the pair. The intrusion demonstrates how controlling the government really is. The outing is pretty much miserable and Cassia can't help but think about Ky and try to enjoy herself.
The government is societies ball and chain.

Reading response 6 (Matched)

The government took everyones artifacts. The special compact that Cassias grandfather gave her has been taken away along with everyone elses artifacts. It was a terrible time for everyone. Especially for Cassia because she just so happened to have Kys artifact as well! But Xander managed to help her hide it.

Ky and Cassia hike through the woods talking all day after they are allowed on the big hill. Cassia and Ky talk about the poems and take turns drawing squiggly letters in the dirt. Suddenly Ky looks at Cassia in the eyes. The strangness of the look catches her completely off gaurd. "I couldn't sleep all night, worrying that i'd gotten you in trouble. I care about you." Ky- pg 211
Cassias heart melts after she hears that. Suddenly she doesn't know what to feel about the whole situation. Shes shocked because no one has ever cared about her except Xander.
Ky promises to teach Cassia the whole alphabet. No matter the consequences.

Reading Response 5 (Matched)

Cassias world is drifting away from the normal more and more each day. She continues hiking with Ky and he continues to each her how to write and create. One day after weeks of hiking on the same hill Cassia peaks over the top only to find that a girl with long blonde hair has taken her usual place next to Ky and he is drawing in the dirt much like they do together. Shes has never felt jealousy before and is greatly upset by the new emotion. "After a moment, I open my eyes and glance over at Ky. He doesn't look back, but I know he knows im watching." pg 152.
Because Cassia gets jealous we can assume that she is developing a crush on Ky. Periodically she has to remind herself of Xander and there future together. She thinks about what she saw on the data chip and the possibility that maybe Ky was suppose to be her true match.
The next day Cassia goes to a new hill. It is much larger and harder to climb. But at least it gives her a chance to partner up with Ky and have a long, unmonitored talk.

Research Topic

So to help stay interested in my research topic I chose a topic in science. My topic is hormones such as dopamine and neutrophins driving sexual and romantic attractions to our partners. Others may argue that hormones and chemicals in our bodies have no effect on our relationship and that behavior and attraction is a conscious choice.

Article one response

Article One Response
“media are not just passive channels of information. They supply the stuff of thought,
but they also shape the process of thought. And what the Net seems to be doing is chipping away my capacity for concentration and contemplation.”

I have never thought about the problems that the abridged information the internet spoon feeds us as bad. And I don’t necessarily agree that it is the problem. I think the information on the internet does not give us as much of an opportunity to practice long reading. The blame for the lack of contemplation is on the reader for not practicing.
“Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski.”
From this quote I gather that the lot of people just skim rather them dive into their reading. I would agree there is a serious problem with gathering meaning from deep readings, I just don’t think the internet is completely to blame. The more readers use the Web, the more they have to fight to stay focused on long pieces of writing. Without practice, you will lose the skills to concentrate on a long meaningful piece of literature.

Reading response #4 with picture

Cassia is really dancing with danger. She burned the secret poems that grandfather gave her. She went to her fathers work and let the paper float into the library her father was incinerating. It was destroyed. The words her grandfather gave her were destroyed forever. All is not lost though. Cassia remembers the poems and she realizes they are fueling her actions and thoughts. The poems are making her question authority. 'Why are we only allowed to sort? No one is taught to create. I have left nothing behind that will change the world.' page 162. After weeks of trying to make contact with Ky about the incident in the woods, she finally finds out he has a secret of his own. Ky knows how to write. He teaches cassia how to make a C and promises to teach her a little bit everyday. Cassia knows this is very dangerous, but it will change her life and ultimately bring her closer to her grandfather. Learning how to create.
